Though your children are gone, God has many children left in the world whose needs you may meet with what he has bestowed upon you. Your charity to them will doubtless turn to a more comfortable account than if you had left a large estate to your own posterity.

Surely we are not sent into this world to heap up great estates for our children. If you have been too eager in this design, you may now read God's just rebuke of your folly. Bless God that you still have an opportunity to serve him eminently by your charity. And if God denies you other executors, let your own hands be your executors — to distribute to the needs of the saints, so that the blessings of those ready to perish may come upon you.
